Selva & Sea offers small-batch steam distillation services in Belize for businesses, growers, makers, and entrepreneurs interested in transforming aromatic plant material into essential oils and hydrosols.
Using our 50L steam distillation system, we can work with selected herbs, flowers, leaves, citrus materials, and other aromatic botanicals to explore their potential for use in body care, home fragrance, aromatherapy, hospitality, and other finished products.

Hydrosols
Concentrated aromatic oils captured from selected plant material through steam distillation. Essential oils may be suitable for body care, aromatherapy, home fragrance, hospitality, and other product applications depending on the botanical and intended use.
The aromatic waters produced during steam distillation. Hydrosols contain water-soluble botanical compounds and can be used in a variety of body, home, wellness, and product-development applications.
Not every plant yields a meaningful quantity of essential oil. New botanicals may begin with a trial distillation to evaluate yield, aroma, and suitability before larger production.

The condensed distillate is collected. When essential oil is present, it is separated from the hydrosol and each fraction is retained individually.
We review the results and discuss whether the botanical is suitable for repeat batches or further development.
